Out on safari

Day by day
8 days, 7 nights
The route below is the standard version. Game drives follow the wildlife rather than a timetable, and your guide adjusts as the animals move.
- 1
Arrival in Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and meet your private safari representative.
Transfer to your hotel in Arusha. Meet your photography-focused safari guide for a briefing covering the itinerary, wildlife expectations and photographic priorities.
- 2
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Depart early for Tarangire National Park.
Begin your photography safari with a game drive through landscapes characterized by ancient baobabs, open plains and seasonal water sources.
Tarangire offers excellent opportunities to photograph elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, birds and, with luck, predators.
- 3
Full-Day Tarangire Photography Safari
Spend a full day in Tarangire, maximising your time in the field.
Early morning light can provide excellent conditions for wildlife photography. Follow animal movements around the park's river and seasonal water areas, then continue exploring different habitats throughout the day.
Your guide will work with you to identify photographic opportunities and maintain a responsible distance from wildlife.
- 4
Tarangire to Ngorongoro Highlands
Enjoy a morning game drive before continuing toward Ngorongoro.
Travel through the scenic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley and Ngorongoro Highlands.
Arrive at your lodge and prepare for the following day's crater photography experience.
- 5
Ngorongoro Crater Photography Safari
Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive.
The crater's exceptional wildlife concentration provides opportunities to photograph lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and, with luck, black rhino.
The crater's varied landscapes also offer strong opportunities for wide-angle environmental wildlife photography.
- 6
Ngorongoro to Serengeti
Travel toward the Serengeti after breakfast.
Enter the park and begin wildlife photography as you make your way toward your accommodation. Explore areas around kopjes, plains and seasonal water sources.
Depending on the season, migrating wildebeest and zebra may provide spectacular photographic opportunities.
- 7
Full-Day Serengeti Big Cats Photography
Spend a full day focusing on the Serengeti's predators and wildlife.
Your guide will monitor wildlife movements and select areas where photographic opportunities are most promising. Search for lions, cheetahs and leopards, as well as elephants, giraffes, wildebeest and zebras.
Early morning and late afternoon provide particularly attractive light for wildlife photography.
- 8
Serengeti to Arusha
Enjoy a final early morning game drive for one last opportunity to capture wildlife in the soft morning light.
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for an optional flight to Arusha, or begin your road journey back to Arusha.

Photography Experience
The safari is designed around quality time in the field rather than simply ticking off wildlife sightings. Private vehicle arrangements provide greater flexibility to wait patiently for interesting behaviour, adjust positioning and take advantage of changing light.
Wildlife sightings are naturally unpredictable, so specific animals or photographic encounters cannot be guaranteed. Your guide will use local knowledge, current wildlife movements and animal behaviour to maximise opportunities while maintaining responsible viewing practices.
Best for
Ideal for professional photographers, serious hobbyists, wildlife filmmakers, content creators and travellers passionate about African wildlife.
Accommodation levels
Choose the level, and we build the trip around it
The same route can be run four ways. The level you pick decides where you sleep, how far you drive to the wildlife each morning, and most of what the safari costs.
Budget
Clean, simple camps and small lodges. Everything you need after a day in the park, and nothing you do not.
Mid-range
Comfortable lodges and permanent tented camps with en-suite bathrooms, pools and full service. Where most safaris sit.
Luxury
High-end lodges and luxury tented camps in prime locations, with the shorter drives to the wildlife that come with them.
Premium
The best addresses in each park. Exclusive-use camps, private guiding and the quietest corners of the reserves.
Why there is no price on the page
A safari price that fits everyone fits nobody. Two people in a premium camp in August and a family of four in a mid-range lodge in April are different trips at different costs, on the same itinerary. Rather than publish a figure that would be wrong for most people reading it, we price each trip properly.
Tell us your dates, your group and the level you want, and you get an accurate quote back with the accommodation named.
What the quote is built from
- Accommodation level and the type of camp or lodge
- Where you sleep: park rates differ, and so do the drives
- Travel dates, since low, high and peak seasons are priced apart
- Group size, and the ages of any children
- Safari style: private, shared, or tailor-made
- Length of the trip, the parks you enter and the activities you add
- Vehicle and transport arrangements
- Anything special: flights, transfers, honeymoon touches, dietary needs
