What we do with your details
Short version: we collect what we need to plan your trip, we measure how the website is used, and we never sell your details to anyone.
This policy covers www.yourzanziguide.com and any booking or review you send through it. Last reviewed 5 August 2026.
Who is responsible
This website is operated by JASA Zanzibar Tours & Safaris Limited, trading as Your Zanzi Guide, a company registered in Tanzania under number 208032240 and based in Stone Town, Zanzibar. Full registration details are on our company information page.
We are the data controller for the information described below. For privacy questions, corrections and deletion requests, email us at [email protected] or message us on WhatsApp.
What we collect
When you send a booking request from our booking page, we receive the details you type into the form:
- Your name
- Your email address and phone or WhatsApp number
- Your arrival and departure dates
- The hotel or area you are staying in
- Your preferred language
- The tours and packages you selected, group sizes, and any special requests you write
When you submit a review, we receive your name, your country, your email address if you choose to give one, the tour and date, your rating and the review text, along with your answer to the permission question.
When you message us on WhatsApp, we see your WhatsApp profile name, your phone number and whatever you send us. That conversation happens inside WhatsApp and is also subject to WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
Automatically, our hosting provider records standard server access logs, which include IP addresses and the pages requested. These are used to keep the site running and secure.
Through Google Analytics, we also measure how the website is used: which pages are visited, which tours are opened, which are added to a selection, and whether a booking request or review was sent. This is covered in section 05.
We do not collect payment card details on this website. Nothing is charged online. Payment is arranged separately once we have confirmed your booking.
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and quote for the tours you asked about
- To plan, book and run your trip, including pick-up times and transport
- To contact you about your booking before, during and after your stay
- To publish your review, only if you gave permission for it
- To keep proper business records as a registered company
- To understand how the website is used, so we can improve it
We use your details to do what you asked us to do. We do not sell them, we do not run advertising on this site, and we do not send you marketing you did not ask for.
Who else sees it
Web3Forms. Our booking and review forms are delivered by Web3Forms, which passes the contents of the form to our inbox. They process the submission on our behalf.
Local partners. Running a tour means telling the right people the minimum they need: a boat captain, a driver, your hotel reception for a pick-up, or a park office where entry has to be registered by name. We share only what that specific tour requires.
Google Analytics. Google processes the usage data described in section 05 on our behalf, so we can see how the site performs.
Service providers. Our web host and WhatsApp handle data as part of delivering the site and our messaging.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site. It sets cookies on your device to recognise a returning visitor and to group the pages you view into a single visit.
Analytics is on by default, and you can switch it off. We tell you about it on your first visit. Opt out from that notice or from the cookie settings link at the bottom of any page, and analytics cookies are switched off and no further analytics data is collected.
Alongside page views, we record these actions as events:
- Opening a tour or package page
- Adding a tour to your selection, or removing one
- Opening the booking page with tours selected
- Sending a booking request, and whether it went by email or WhatsApp
- Clicking a WhatsApp button, and which page you clicked it from
- Submitting a review, and opening our certificate of incorporation
These events record what happened, not who did it. The name, email address, phone number, hotel and message you type into a form are never sent to Google. We use this to see which tours interest people and where the booking process loses them, nothing more.
We run no advertising pixels and no third-party tracking beyond Google Analytics. Our fonts are served from our own server, so loading a page does not call out to anybody else for them.
Changing your mind. Use the cookie settings link at the bottom of any page to bring the choice back and switch it either way. You can also block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's official Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Your tour selection is stored separately, in your browser's local storage, so it survives a refresh. That one stays on your device and is never sent to us until you submit the booking form. Clearing your browser data removes it, as does emptying the selection.
How long we keep it
We keep booking enquiries for as long as we need them to plan and run your trip, and afterwards as part of our business records. Published reviews stay on the site until you ask us to remove them. WhatsApp conversations remain in the chat history unless deleted.
If you want your details removed, message us and we will delete what we are not required to keep.
Where your data goes
We are based in Tanzania, and the providers we use to run the site and deliver form submissions operate internationally. That means your information may be stored or processed outside your own country, including outside the European Economic Area.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. If you are in the EU or UK, those rights come with specific legal backing, but we apply the same approach to everyone who asks.
Email or message us and say what you want done. We will action it and confirm back to you.
Children
This website is meant for adults booking travel. Children travelling with you are of course welcome on our tours, and we only ask for the details we need to run the day safely, such as how many children are in the group and their ages where a tour requires it. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we update this page and change the review date at the top. This version was last reviewed on 5 August 2026.
